Up for sale is this large medallion or paperweight commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Ford Motor Company in 1953. It depicts three generations of Fords on the front and is signed below these images “After Norman Rockwell”. It is stamped on the side «Medallic Art Co, New York» and «Bronze». This is a large medallion, it measures 3″ across and weighs about half a pound.
Creator Notes:
The Ford Motor Company commissioned the medallion. Anthony de Francisci is the sculptor of the bas-relief and manufactured by the Medallic Art Company. The medallion’s design is based on Norman Rockwell’s portrait of Henry Ford, Edsel Ford and Henry Ford II. The initials of the sculptor also appear under the lowest bust as «A d F Sc».
